How To Get Rid Off Most Used Apps When You Swioe Up On Googlepixel3

Can no longer swipe up for all apps access after recent Android 12 update
7
I just updated my Pixel 3 with Android 12 and cannot figure out how to access all my apps. I used to swipe up from the bottom of the screen and all my apps would appear. Now when I swipe up, all I get is my recently accessed pages. The only way I can get into all my apps now is by going into settings, apps, and scrolling through the long list of apps (unlike before when you just swipe up and apps are conveniently listed as bubbles). Any suggestions?

This is terrible UX and a poorly communicated change. How in the world were we supposed to know to swipe up from the middle of the screen? I just wasted 45 minutes of my life trying to troubleshoot this because I couldn't access the app drawer from swiping up from the bottom like I have for the past 5 years. Thanks to those who figured it out!!

I figured it out. I went into settings and navigation settings. Apparently my phone wouldn't access that feature with the 2 button navigation I previously used. I changed it to the 3 button navigation option and am now able to swipe up to access all my apps and then press the square button to access recent pages. Phew. I almost freaked out.

Just wanted to let Google know that this change really sucks and should have been communicated upon updating at the very least. I changed the settings back to one gesture but end up having to swipe twice most of the time. I hate having apps on my home screen so access almost everything by swiping up and now I'm just mad and frustrated every time I use my phone. Guess it will help me use my phone less, which is probably good for me, but doesn't seem like the intended business outcome.

Thanks for the information. I had the same problem with the pixel 12 update. I panicked because I don't keep a lot of apps on my home screen and thought I couldn't get them again! Changing the navigation from 2 to 3 seems to have resolved the problem. For those who don't know, this is found in settings, accessibility, system controls and system navigation. Settings is accessed by swiping down fully from the top (you'll see the little cog looking thing in the bottom right). Thanks again to the previous user who's advice had made my life less stressful again!

I went back to two button navigation and swiping up from the search bar works for me. If you swipe up from lower than that you won't get anything. For some reason two fingers also worked for me a few times, probably because my fingers hit the search bar. I'm not a fan of this change. Thank you for those who posted the solution. 👍

Had the same issue - figured it out after a long time. Swipe up from any where on the screen other than the bottom brings up additional apps. If you swipe from the bottom, it brings recent pages.

I was able to figure things out. I went into the navigation and settings menus. My phone didn't seem to be able to access that feature using the two-button navigation I was previously using. I switched to the three-button navigation and can now swipe up to access all of my apps and tap the square button to view recent pages. Phew. I was on the verge of passing out.
